The offense of the Master

There has been some greate kerfuffle as of late over the use of the word "master" in git branches, purporting that all good developers should instead rename all such branches to "main"

I for one, consider this to not only be the height of stupidity, but also an evil we should seek to reverse. But to explain that I need to lay some groundwork.

Definitions of terms. Slavery and Mastery

It is important to note that both the definitions for the words slavery and mastery are under attack in our PC culture, and to note that they are separately attacked.

Master

Mastery - Noun

  • comprehensive knowledge

Slavery

The importance of definitions

Infidel IN'FIDEL, adjective [Latin infidelis; in and fidelis; faithful.]

Unbelieving; disbelieving the inspiration of the Scriptures, or the divine institution of christianity.

The infidel writer is a great enemy to society.

IN'FIDEL, noun One who disbelieves the inspiration of the Scriptures, and the divine origin of christianity.
